Die internationale gartenschau 2013 und die Freie und Hansestadt Hamburg, Deutschland loben nach erfolgreicher Wiederaufnahme im Jahr 2009 erneut den Otto-Linne Preis für urbane Landschaftsarchitektur aus.
Die Aufgabenstellung für das Jahr 2011 stellt die Grenzen klassischer Landschaftsarchitektur in Frage und widmet sich einem Thema, welches freiraumplanerische, städtebauliche, architektonische und verkehrsplanerische Belange gleichermaßen berührt. Der Wettbewerb soll dazu animieren, sich mit den Grundsätzen und möglichen Perspektiven urbaner Landschaftsarchitektur zu befassen. Die Bearbeitung eines Beispielraums in Hamburg, Deutschland soll eine qualifizierte Diskussion in der „Fachwelt“ auslösen, mit kontroversen Ansätzen anregen und anhand mutiger, neuer Bilder auch anschaulich machen.
Der Betrachtungsraum in der Stadt Hamburg umfasst das Gebiet der Billemündung in den Oberhafen der Elbe und deren angrenzende Strukturflächen.
Teilnahmeberechtigt sind Studierende und junge Absolventen (bis 39 Jahre) der Fachrichtung Landschaftsarchitektur. Eine interdisziplinäre Zusammenarbeit (Stadtplanung, Architektur, Verkehrsplanung, Soziologie, etc.) wird empfohlen. Die Aufgabe ist sehr gut als Semesterarbeit oder Studienprojekt geeignet. Die Wettbewerbssprache ist Englisch.
Der Otto-Linne Preis hat das Ziel, Entwürfe zu prämieren, die eine zukunftsweisende Haltung zur urbanen Landschaftsarchitektur entwickeln und innovative Ideen für den besonderen Raum entwerfen.

Otto Linne Award 2011
After its successful reinstatement in 2009, the igs (International Garden Show) 2013 and the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg, Germany are once again hosting the Otto-Linne Award for urban landscape architecture in February 2011.
The challenge for the year 2011 questions the threshold of classical landscape architecture, and addresses a topic that affects open space planning, urban design, architecture, and traffic planning issues alike. The competition should encourage the candidates to tackle the principles and potential prospects of urban landscape architecture. With the aid of bold images and controversial approaches, the treatment of the proposed space in Hamburg, Germany should trigger discussion in the professionals world.
The competition area in Hamburg city includes the Bille estuary in the upper harbour of the Elbe and the adjoining areas.
Those eligible to take part are students and young graduates (up to 39 years old) of landscape architecture. Interdisciplinary collaboration (town planning, architecture, traffic planning, sociology, etc) is recommended. The task is suitable for semester work or as a study project. The competion language is English.
The Otto-Linne Award aims to reward designs which foster a forward-looking attitude towards urban landscape architecture and which develop innovative ideas for the treatment of the particular space.
